Calculation method for ground vehicle loads on ductile iron pipes

The effect of ground vehicle load on ductile iron pipelines, including various vehicles traveling on the ground, its load class, specification and type should be determined according to the requirements of ground operation.
The standard value of the vertical pressure transmitted to the top of the buried ductile iron pipe by the ground vehicle load can be determined according to the following method:
The standard value of the vertical pressure transmitted from a single wheel pressure to the top of the nodular pipe can be calculated according to the following formula:

qvk———-The standard value of the vertical pressure transmitted from the wheel pressure to the top of the pipe, KN/m2
Qvi,k——the standard value of single wheel pressure borne by the i wheels of the vehicle, KN;
H——-the distance from the top of the pipeline to the design ground, m;
μd——dynamic coefficient of vehicle load;
ai——i wheel ground distribution length, m;
bi——i wheel’s landing distribution width, m.

The standard value of the vertical pressure transmitted to the top of the ductile iron pipe due to the comprehensive influence of two or more single-row wheel pressures can be calculated according to the following formula:

n —– the total number of wheels
dbj —– along the width direction of the distribution of wheels on the ground, the clear distance between two adjacent wheels, m.

The standard value of the vertical pressure transmitted to the top of the pipe due to the comprehensive influence of multiple rows of wheel pressure can be calculated according to the following formula:

mb——the number of rows of wheels along the length of the wheel distribution;
